FinExact, a cloud-based auditing and compliance platform headquartered in the Netherlands, encountered challenges with generating client-specific audit reports across varying financial frameworks. Their existing system lacked flexibility, requiring manual adjustments for each client or compliance update. This rigidity led to delays, increased overhead, and inconsistent outputs. We stepped in to build a dynamic report generation engine using C#, tailored to support customizable audit structures, hierarchical data, real-time validations, and seamless multi-format exports. Our solution enabled FinExact to streamline operations, maintain reporting accuracy, and accelerate audit delivery.

Challenges & Solutions

Report updates required manual changes due to hardcoded templates.

  • Solution: We developed a dynamic reporting engine using C# and ASP.NET Core. A configuration-driven templating layer and dynamic LINQ expressions enabled on-the-fly schema generation without code changes. This drastically accelerated deployment cycles and ensured adaptability.

Static reports couldn’t display multi-level financial breakdowns.

  • Solution: By leveraging OpenXML SDK and C#, we built a logic-driven template engine that allowed for multi-level nesting, formula-based tables, and embedded charts. Reports could now dynamically adapt to any hierarchy required by the client.

Compliance had to be manually verified after report generation.

  • Solution: We implemented a real-time validation layer using LINQ and C# services. The system could now check thresholds and regulatory parameters during report generation itself, ensuring only compliant data was included in final reports.

Report exports were limited to plain PDFs with minimal formatting.

  • Solution: Our expert C# developers have created an export module using OpenXML SDK that supports high-fidelity exports to both Excel and PDF. Reports included metadata, branding, and advanced formatting, and were ready for automatic distribution to portals or emails.
