Diwali is celebrated for the 5 days starting from Dhanteras, on which many Indian business families start their financial year, to Bhaubeej. In India, it is one of the most important festivals of the year and people celebrate it along with their family.
Diwali is the day when Lord Rama along with his wife Sita returned home after 14 years, where he died an exile, epic war with Ravana, the demonic king of Lanka. Ayodhya, the kingdom of Lord Rama, was lit up with rows of oil lamps, overcoming the dark night of Amavasya to welcome home the Rama. So, on this auspicious day, the lighting of lamps signifies the happiness and the end of bad.
